Barcelona

2 Sep

For every resident of Barcelona there are four visitors. It must get wearing even for the party capital of Spain. La Rambla was the usual crazy circus. For me it was a welcome three days of unscheduled luxury sandwiched between Africa and starting classes in Seville.

One of the negatives of travelling in Southern Africa is endemic malaria. I opted to take the cure – a concentrated dose of Malarone over three days- post exposure instead during the trip. All the more reason to have four star amenities handy.

Three mornings = three markets and three nights = three Flamenco performances. I almost made it four as there was a guitarist at Park Guell who spruiked a Flamenco performance but sadly he only had five strings to his guitar, his bailarina didn’t even have flamenco shoes but relied on much wafting of rather odd fans and a drunken woman who could not keep compas. Stacey, they gave buskers a bad name.

Thanks for the restaurant recommendation John, ’24’ is a top spot!

Hey you… I hope you have a wonderful gap year! Given you are in Spain at the moment I’d suggest you get over to Madrid… I’d imagine it would be a week or so away but noches de blanco “the whit night” was at the end of EAIE two years ago, unfortunately I didn’t go out as I had a flight the next morning but by all reports
    it was certainly an experience!

    Enjoy!

      Hola Dirk!

Thanks for the tip. Will see what’s happening. There are soooooo many options and then I still have my two classes a day to get to.

Fiesta de Buletias in Jerez on the 17th is an all nighter in the bull ring with Joaquin Grilo headlining a tribute to Moraito – what joy!!!!

Hope Murdoch is treating you well đŸ˜‰

      Besos,

      S
