I met Elvis in the Meribel ski locker

11 Apr

Admittedly he has shrunk and now speaks with a Geordie accent but as you can see it really was Elvis.

I couldn’t leave you all thinking we departed Les Allues with our tails between our legs. On the contrary Les Trois Vallees turned on a magnificent final ski day shared with our bon ami Martyn, aka ‘Turbocharger’. With Martyn leading we covered masses of the mountainside above Meribel and Courchevel with lunch at Le Boucle Blanc. Even piste noire Suisse held no terror for me today.

Doesn’t get any better than this!

Friday we fly to Newark, New Jersey, then drive to the wedding of Sarah and Brian in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Sarah is the daughter of old friends Alistair and Lynn who live in Princeton (you may remember them from our week last September staying in the lovely, stone house near Mons, Provence). It promises to be a wonderful wedding.

From New Hope Stuart and I fly to Atlanta to start a loosely planned 18 day music-themed road trip around the south east of the US. One definite stop en route will be Memphis and Graceland Mansion where I’ll pay my respects to the real Elvis.

I recognise only one king, it is and always will be – Elvis Aaron Presley.

Au revoir from Les Allues and see you in the US!
